It has not taken them as long as I had hoped it would to realize something is amiss.
My control has always been tenuous, a little wild, but this is absurd. The cockroach managed to find and gather them, even though he should have no idea who they are.
And that fucking angel.
Kleenorp hired them as runners, which would have been fine had the system not glitched and replicated Xu technology.
This science isn’t science, okay.
They made the drop in the black market, distracted Varga by smashing all of his shit to hell and the ghoul shoved her way into his trashcan and christ they got a Xu program that never should have been reproduced in the first place.
I thought I had put enough distance between my subjects, but Amanda still found them. They didn’t meet her at their rendezvous point, though — I should be able to take care of her before they realize she’s gone.
They discovered Amir, the driver I duplicated because I thought they were too poor to afford cabs. I still don’t know where Mia’s money comes from.
I guess that spooked them. Go figure.
They left town, heading south. I lost them somewhere in the forest, but Mia’s signal picked back up north of Salida by several hours. I believe they returned to the bunker Sunny grew up in, but I wasn’t able to see it on any of my monitors. I didn’t dig deeply enough upon construction, I suppose. It doesn’t matter. They didn’t find what they were looking for, and instead tried and failed to pry information out of Kleenorp. Well, they got John Smith. Poor Kleenorp doesn’t know how unhelpful that is.
And yet, they made it to his house, broke in, stole a computer, forgot about two factor authentication which even I know about, got caught, lied to, and kicked out.
I wish I knew what happened next to trigger her, but Rue flew into a rage and fled.
I’m excited to follow her. It’s been too long.
